Belgian Mosque Faces Second Anti-Islam Defacement in Ten Days
The Tawfieq mosque in Schelle was targeted again after the words "F*ck Islam" were spray-painted across the building’s facade, according to Muslim Rights Watch Belgium.
"This is the second time in barely 10 days," MRWB Chairman Mohamed Amin Chaib said.
Chaib warned that the repeated incidents demonstrated the vulnerability of Muslim places of worship and called for stronger security measures to protect them.
"This can no longer be dismissed as mere vandalism," he said, while questioning whether authorities would have acted with the same level of urgency if a different religious community had been targeted.
The Rupel police zone said officers have opened an investigation to establish whether the same individual was responsible for both incidents.
The mosque was previously vandalized on Sept. 5, when the same anti-Islam message was painted on the building alongside swastikas.
