K9 Diego Retires After More Than Six Years of Service
The Pender County Board of Commissioners recognized K9 Diego during its meeting Tuesday night as he begins his well-earned retirement after six years and three months of service with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.
Diego, a 9-year-old Belgian Malinois, served alongside his handler, Deputy Simme. During their years together, the pair responded wherever they were needed and worked to help keep Pender County safe.
Diego has been a loyal partner to Deputy Simme and a valued member of the Sheriff’s Office. Although his time on duty has come to an end, the impact of his service will remain.
Please join Pender County and the Pender County Sheriff’s Office in congratulating Diego on his retirement and thanking him for his service to the citizens of Pender County.
